Heart valve disease patients participate in a Patient Information Day.
On 28 February, we invited heart valve disease patients from across the UK to participate in a Patient Information Day.
The aim of the day was to gain input into the role of the patient in Heart Valve Voice either as a patient ambassador or a volunteer. Our guests were asked to help us define what it means to work with the charity and how they would like to be supported by us.
We then presented some of the work we have planned for 2019 and discussed ways in which patients could get involved and help us spread the message of heart valve disease awareness. Our volunteers have the chance to attend some of our awareness raising events, conferences, policy meetings, educational visits and can participate in patient roundtables and valve disease research studies.
"It was wonderful to have so many valve disease patients together in one room," said Wil Woan. "The room was buzzing with discussions and we were able to gain some really valuable insight and feedback from our patients which will go a long way in helping us in future."
If you know of any patients who would be interested in getting involved in some of our work or simply share their story please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
