Heart Valve Voice is delighted to mark the end of our campaign to educate half a million over 65s on heart valve disease. In 2022, we committed to teaching 500,000 over 65s about heart valve disease from detection to treatment.

Launched in February 2022, we worked with patients to develop a series of adverts targeted at those over 65s. The idea behind the campaign was to take people from our social media channels to a landing page on our website where they could learn about the heart valve disease pathway from symptoms to treatment. Our intelligence from 2021 told us that people spend 45 seconds on any landing page on average, so with the support of our National Clinical Advisor, Professor Huon Gray, we distilled all relevant information into 45 seconds of reading.

The campaign was adapted throughout the year to ensure we were engaging an audience that was representative, and the results have been extraordinary. We directed 500,000 over 65s to our landing page, at the end of which they were asked to complete a short questionnaire. Of those 500,000 people, 98% correctly identified the symptoms of heart valve disease, and 96% knew what to do if they or anyone they knew experienced them.

Heart Valve Voice Executive Director, Wil Woan, said, "Huge credit must go to the team for the design and delivery of this campaign. A tremendous about of hard work went into it, and we can be proud of the results. But the work doesn’t stop there. This year, we want to hit 3 million people, which is over 25% of the over-65 population in the UK. Coupled with our SLOW campaign, the impact we’re having in raising the profile of the condition is tremendous."

If you would like to support any of our awareness projects, please get in touch, and you can congratulate the team on social media by tagging @HeartValveVoice.

Heart Valve Voice would like to thank you all for your support in 2022, and we look forward to what we can achieve together in 2023.
