Last week Heart Valve Voice CEO Wil Woan visited The North-West Heart Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital and met with Keith Pearce, the new president of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE). The two discussed the possibility of both organisations forming a partnership in 2018 as echocardiography or ‘echo’ plays such a key role in the valve disease patient’s pathway.

Recently Wil Woan attended the annual British and Irish Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (BISMICS) meeting in London on the 2nd and 3rd November. The meeting brings together health professionals with an interest in minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery from across the UK, Ireland and overseas to discuss recent advancements and achievements in the field.

In partnership with the The Royal Photographic Society we will be launching ‘Patient Portraits: A New You’ a photography competition on the 5th December, encouraging keen photographers to capture heartfelt moments in time and convey what life after heart valve disease means to patients. The images captured will help raise awareness of heart valve disease, its prevalence and symptoms and educate audiences that with appropriate treatment, patients can return to a good quality of life.
