Virtual Appointment Guide

Virtual Appointment Guide

Tuesday 11th August 2020

Today, Heart Valve Voice launch our Virtual Appointment Guide for valve disease patients. The guide was created in response to the reduction of in-person services due to COVID-19 and will help foster the same comfort and confidence patients feel when they meet their clinician.

The guide is broken into four parts:

  1. Preparation
  2. Taking the call
  3. Results and next steps
  4. Preparing for Delays to Treatment

In making the guide, we consulted with patients and clinicians to find out how the new style of appointment was running, what problems they had encountered and what had worked well. Our valve disease community were involved in every stage of the process, and that input has helped craft a guide that is patient-led.

By using this guide, we can ensure that patients and their clinical team are getting the most out of this new style of appointment. We ask all patients to download and print out a copy of it and recommend all clinicians promote the guide in their clinics and hospitals.

“We’re delighted to release this Virtual Appointment Guide for valve disease patients. Good planning and preparation are going to be central to this new style of appointment, and we want to make sure that patients get the most out of each appointment, and we're making every contact count. We’ve worked with patients and clinicians to find out what best practice looks like, and I believe this guide will meet all needs and ensure patients are comfortable and confident with their care plan.” Wil Woan, Heart Valve Voice CEO.
