Peter Robinson: Reaching New Heights
Tuesday 5th December 2017
It’s been an interesting year for valve disease patient Peter Robinson. After being diagnosed with valve disease, being told he had very little chance of surviving then meeting Mr Michael Sabetai of Guy’s and St Thomas’ and being given a life changing new innovative valve, it’s safe to say Peter will never forget 2017.
Now it’s onto his next big adventure and he’s taking Heart Valve Voice along for the ride. Peter will be joining Heart Valve Voice CEO Wil Woan, his surgeon Mr Sabetai and members of his family to tackle the height defying O2 Walk! The adventurous group will walk across the top of the O2 at a height of 52 metres above ground, not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure (pun intended).
Before his treatment, Peter couldn't have imagined completing such a feat, he was breathless, tired and all together not well. Now in addition to the O2 walk he’s been out walking regularly, spending some quality time with his family and even walked up to the talk of Cantebury Cathedral!
“I’m so excited to be doing the O2 walk with Wil and Mr Sabetai, I just hope they can keep up with me!” said Peter. “I think it’s really important to show fellow patients that just because they’ve been diagnosed with valve disease it’s not a death sentence. With the right treatment, there is life after a diagnosis, and if I’m any example, a pretty good life too!”
