As Chairman of Heart Valve Voice I am happy to announce the appointment of our newest member to the Trustee Board, Alison Banayoti. Alison will sit as our second patient representative on the board and brings with her a passion for sharing her story and helping to raise awareness of heart valve disease.

Alison received a new valve earlier this year after being diagnosed at the age of 45. She has made it her mission in life following her treatment to learn all she can about heart valve disease and to raise awareness and educate people on the need for early diagnosis and treatment.

“I was very lucky to catch my heart valve disease when I did and since my treatment I have felt much better than I have in a long time,” said Alison. “I want to help inspire people to speak to their GPs about heart valve disease and be sure they are getting their hearts checked regularly. I am determined to live my life after heart valve disease treatment to the full, just like my 96 year old grandmother and I am hoping my work with Heart Valve Voice will also encourage others to do the same!”

Alison is a wonderful addition to the Heart Valve Voice Trustee board and we are all looking forward to working with her.
