Photography Competition 2022

Friday 25th March 2022

Heart Valve Voice is pleased to announce the launch of our 2022 Photography Competition, ‘Photos from the Heart.’ This competition is an opportunity for anyone affected by heart valve disease to share pictures of what heart valve disease treatment means to them, and help us raise awareness of this common, serious, but treatable condition.

Heart Valve Voice: Photos from the Heart asks anyone in the UK over 18 to submit up to five pictures that capture those shared moments, treasured memories or acts of kindness and love. Each image will capture a moment that is 'from the heart', that represents what heart valve disease means to you.

The competition is open to anyone affected by heart valve disease. So if you’re a patient, family member, friend or healthcare professional, send in your images and tell us about what heart valve disease treatment means to you.

Please send your images to info@heartvalvevoice.com along with a short description of why you chose these images. Important - when sending your images, please send them in “Actual Size” to ensure the best quality images are sent in. If you have any questions on how to do this, email us and we’ll walk you through the process.

Winners of the competition will be in with a chance of having their photos on display at an exhibition in the Houses of Parliament, as well as being a part of our 2023 Heart Valve Voice Calendar.

'Photos from the Heart' provides a window for everyone involved to learn more about heart valve disease -  a condition that affects over 1.5 million people in the UK.

"The Heart Valve Voice photography competition was an amazing experience for me." said 2018's winner Eric Etchart. "Getting to view Alan's [Tancred] active lifestyle and being able to capture his passion for dance was a privilege. It showed me that heart valve disease doesn't need to restrict how much fun you can have! Awareness of valve disease is an important step to getting back peoples' quality of life. I'm so happy that I was able to share these photographs and most importantly, Alan's story.”

Heart Valve Voice Executive Director, Wil Woan, said “I’m delighted to see the launch of this brilliant competition and would encourage all our supporters to enter. Competitions like this allow us to capture what heart valve disease treatment means to all of us, and in doing so raise awareness of the condition. So get your cameras out and start capturing those moments that matter most!!”
