Blackpool Victoria Educational Event

Blackpool Victoria Educational Event

Wednesday 28th February 2018

On 7 February, the team from Heart Valve Voice including PAG member and Trustee Pat Khan attended an interactive educational event about valve disease treatment at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The event featured expert clinicians who talked the audience through the different valve disease specialties and treatments available at Blackpool Victoria. The presentations included an introduction to their TAVI programme, an explanation of Aortic Stenosis, a discussion on the various treatment options available including surgical intervention and TAVI, an explanation of the patient pathway for patients at Blackpool Victoria and a wonderful talk from patients who shared their experiences with valve disease.

In addition to talks from the experts at Blackpool Victoria, Heart Valve Voice presented who we are and the work that we do. Then PAG member and valve disease patient Pat took the stage to share her amazing story and talk about the importance of her involvement with Heart Valve Voice and having the patient voice heard which was very well received by everyone in attendance.

These events are a great way for Heart Valve Voice to spread the word about the work that we do, meet new clinicians from all over the UK and gain valuable support from clinicians and also from the patients that attend. In fact, Pat was able to speak to some fellow patients who have all agreed to share their stories with us! As we all know, patient stories are such an important resource for not only our patients, but also their families, friends and clinicians, so watch out for those stories in the near future, and in the meantime, catch up on some of our other patient stories here.

We can’t wait to attend more events like this in the near future!
