Elske recently attended a Westminster Forum which focused on priorities for the NHS Assembly - the group established to advise and drive implementation of the NHS Long Term Plan.

We are are pleased to see valve disease research identified in the Top 10 research priorities compiled by Heart Surgery Priority Setting Partnership at the University of Leicester Medical School.

Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust had its first year of administrating TAVI to patients in the region of Hull and East Yorkshire. Mr David Morris, 86, received the first TAVI in March of 2019 under Dr Raj Chelliah, Consultant Cardiologist, and his team.

Professor Jan Kovac, an interventional cardiologist at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, presented a live Transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedure (TAVI) on the 9th of October. As part of the International Structural Heart Disease conference.

We're proud to be launching our report ‘State of the Nation: Heart Valve Disease in Wales’ today during European Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week. The new report sets outs recommendations for early diagnosis and treatment services in Wales.

Today, we launch the Unwarranted Variation Report and we believe that the recommendations in this report can help to remedy the problem of inequalities of access to treatment and highlight opportunities in delivering optimal treatment of heart valve disease.
