In 2010, Mike collapsed in the gym whilst on the cross trainer and went into cardiac arrest. Luckily the gym had a defibrillator which brought him back to life and was immediately rushed to the Northern General Hospital. He was told he had aortic stenosis or a ‘sticky valve’ and that the signs had been there for ages, he underwent open heart surgery and had valve replacement and has recovered well.
