Phill Read is a partnership manager for a property company from a sales and marketing background and was diagnosed with mitral valve disease in October 2020.
After coming across our work on the internet while waiting for treatment, Phill contacted Heart Valve Voice and was keen to support the charity and raise awareness of the condition. Since starting his work volunteering with us, Phill has written blogs, recorded videos of his experience of his pathway, and spoken at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Heart Valve Disease. He has also appeared on TV and radio, promoting awareness of the condition and highlighting the effects Covid-19 had on his treatment pathway. Despite delays to treatment, he received his surgery in December 2021. His son, Cameron, ran the Brighton marathon in support of Heart Valve Voice, and Phill and his entire family have been passionate supporters of the charity since they first came across us.
