Phill Read is a partnership manager from a sales and marketing background who was diagnosed with mitral valve disease in October 2020. After 4 years of passionate advocacy work for Heart Valve Voice Phill was unanimously elected the first patient to lead our Board of Trustees.

After coming across our work on the internet while waiting for treatment, Phill contacted Heart Valve Voice and was keen to support the charity and raise awareness of the condition. Since starting his work volunteering with us, Phill has written blogs, recorded videos of his experience of his pathway, and spoken at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Heart Valve Disease. He has also appeared on TV and radio, promoting awareness of the condition and highlighting the effects Covid-19 had on his treatment pathway. Despite delays to treatment, he received his surgery in December 2021. His son, Cameron, ran the Brighton marathon in support of Heart Valve Voice, and Phill and his entire family have been passionate supporters of the charity since they first came across us,
