Wil's Day Two Review

Wednesday 17th May 2017

Wil Woan reviews Day Two of the cycle ride to Paris.

Day Two has come to a tired but successful end. Despite a few wrong turns and a few tumbles everyone made it to our first stop in France safely. We were blessed with some brilliant weather, tons of sun and at least 24 degrees so everyone was slathered in sunscreen and stocked up on water for the 75 mile trip into France today.

We started the day off early and caught the ferry at New Haven. The four hour ferry ride was an excellent opportunity for us to capture some great interviews and video footage with the team. Alex who works closely with the surgery department spoke to us about after treatment care and Helen shared her passion for raising awareness and told us about her friends who had been diagnosed with heart valve disease.

Our videographer Steve has been hard at work creating some really great videos about the tour. He has created an amazing first day video and Day Two is just as jam packed.

After we arrived in France off of the ferry the team set out to make the trek into Beauvais. While we have some obvious avid riders who tend to lead the pack, one of the less experienced riders Anwen, shot out in the lead and made a breakaway 20km from the final stop of the day. Anwen and fellow rider Ishtiaq were the first to arrive at the hotel and we cheered their accomplishment when they triumphantly arrived.

It’s been a long, hot day so we are all taking a moment to enjoy a meal and a couple of cheeky drinks before we head off to bed to rest up for our final leg of the tour. Tomorrow we are leaving first thing to travel into Paris and to the EuroPCR conference. Some of our team members will be cycling right up to the main stage where Phil McCarthy, Pat and I have put together a presentation that will introduce Heart Valve Voice. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous, but I have to admit, I’m more excited than anything to meet with all of the cardiac experts and introduce them to the amazing work that we do.

Thanks for all of your support and don’t forget to keep on cheering on the team!
